At New Street Butchers & Deli, the search for fantastic UK suppliers is an ongoing passion. We are delighted when we come across a company that’s as dedicated to high quality food and drink craftsmanship as we are. I want to introduce some of our suppliers to you though this blog, starting with Bill from Hebridean Liqueurs.

Bill runs a small family business in Helensburgh in Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland. He blends the highest quality liqueurs and spirits, which are so special that they are attracting attention worldwide. He is devoted to creating new and interesting flavours and providing a sensational drinking experience.

At New Street Butchers, we stock a number of Hebridean Liqueur Company’s specialities, which each have their own story.

Here are some of the highlights of the collection:

William Shakespeare’s Whisky Liqueur

The recipe for this whisky liqueur harks back to Shakespeare’s day when whisky was mixed with oranges and caramel, giving it a tangy flavour and a smooth finish. The liqueur is packaged in an antique style bottle, with a copy of William Shakespeare’s Last Will & Testament wrapped around the bottle neck.

Hebridean Whisky Liqueur

Each bottle of Hebridean Liqueur is filled by hand, stopped with a special tapered cork, and finished with a distinctive black wax seal. Historically, Scotch whisky was mixed with either orange juice or burnt sugar-caramel. With a recipe inspired by this, Hebridean Whisky Liqueur has a subtle caramel flavour, with a hint of spice.

Lord Nelson’s Spiced Rum Liqueur

This rum liqueur recalls the flavours of the Caribbean, where Admiral Lord Nelson spent many years of service. A blend of rich caramel and spices results in a luxuriously smooth flavour. It’s perfect for savouring after dinner, or enjoying splashed over ice for a refreshing aperitif.

Ancient Mariner London Dry Gin

Inspired by Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s haunting poem ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’, this smooth London-made gin is made from 100% British grain has a lovely Juniper aroma.

Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.
Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink…

If you fancy trying a drop or two of something tasty & different, Hebridean Liqueurs and Spirits come highly recommended by New Street Butchers and Deli. The delightful flavours make them an ideal after-dinner drink, while the distinctive bottles are perfect gifts for the hard-to-buy-for man in your family!
